(Translation: from P.Oxy. 9) To Apollonius, the judge appointed by his highness the praefect Petronius Mamertinus. I, Hermaeus also called Anubion, son of Hermaeus, inhabitant of Hermopolis Magna, swear by the Emperor Caesar Trajanus Hadrianus Augustus that I will speak before you to-morrow, being the twentieth day of the present month Mecheir, in explanation of my case against Hermaeus son of Apollonides son of ...; otherwise let me be liable to the consequences of the oath.
