παρὰ τοῦ κοινοῦ τῶν ἀπὸ κώμης Φιλαδελφίας ὀγδόου πάγου τοῦ Ἀρσινοεί-
του διʼ ἡμῶν Ἥρωνος καὶ Σακαῶνος καὶ Καναῦ(*). τρῖς(*) ἐσμεν, οἱ προκίμενοι,
ἐν τῇ κώμῃ, ἔπαρχε δέσποτα, οἵτεινες(*) εἰσφέρομεν ὑπὲρ ὅλης τῆς κώμης
5ἀρουρῶν πεντακοσίων, καὶ μηδὲ συνπροχιζομένων(*), καὶ τοῦ κατʼ ἄνδρα
σὺν σαμιακοῖς(*) ἀνδράσι εἴκοσι πένται(*) · ὡς ἐκ τούτου πάνοι(*) τὴν κώμην ἡμῶν
εἰς τενοκομιδὴν(*) ἐλθῖν(*). πρὸς ἀναζήτησιν δὲ ἐγενόμεθα τῶν ὁμοκομητῶν
ἐπὶ τῷ Ὀξυρυγχείτῃ καὶ κατελαβόμεθα ἐν ἐποικίῳ Εὐλογίου υἱῶ(*) Νίδα τῶν ἀπὸ
Σερήνου προβόλους ἄνδρας πένται(*) , Διονύσιον καὶ {καὶ Σουχ}⟦ειδᾶν⟧ καὶ Ὧρ καὶ Ἄμμω-
10να καὶ Σουχειδᾶν καὶ Ἀπὸλ καὶ Σαββαῖον μετὰ τῶν γενῶν, καὶ ὁ τούτων γεο[ῦ-]
χος Εὐλόγι̣ο̣[ς] ἅμα Ἀρείωνι ἀμπελουργῷ καὶ Σεραπίωνι γεωργῷ οὐκ ἐπέτ[ρε-]
ψαντο οὔτε τῆς [θ]ύ̣ρας τοῦ ἐποικίου ἐνγίσαι μεθʼ ὕβρεων. ἔτι δὲ καὶ εὕραμ(εν)
ἐν τῷ ⟦αὐτῷ⟧ \Κυνοπολίτῳ/ νομῷ ὁμοκωμήτας τρῖς(*) παρατάς(*), Γερόντιον καὶ Παθαῦ καὶ Ἥρω-
να, ἔχοντας ὅλας βασιλικῆς ἀρούρας ἑκατὸν καὶ πρός. διὰ τοῦτο δεόμεθα τῆς
15σῆς ἐξο̣υσίας, ἄνθρω̣ποι μέτριοι καὶ μονήρις(*), προστάξε(*) τῷ τὰ εἰρηνικὰ ἐν̣πε-
πιστευ̣μένῳ τοὺς [ὁ]μοκομήτας ἡμῖν παραδοῦναι μετὰ τῶν γενῶν εἵνα(*) δυ-
νηθῶμεν {μετὰ τῶν γενῶν εἵνα δυνηθῶμεν} διὰ ταύτης τῆς παραμυθίας
στῆνα̣ι ἐν τῇ κώμῃ καὶ διὰ παντὸς τῇ λαμπρᾷ σου τύχῃ χάριτας ὁμολο(γήσομεν). vac. ? διευτύχει.

1 To his eminence Flavius Hyginus, praefect of Egypt, from the community of the village of Theadelphia in the 8th pagus of the Arsinoite nome, through us, Heron and Sakaon and Kanaoug. We the aforesaid, our lord praefect, are a group of three persons in the village who pay taxes on behalf of all the village for five hundred arurae which are not even being ploughed up and for a roll of twenty-five individuals including the employees of the Treasury, so that from this state of things our village is reduced to great straits. 7 Setting out in search of our fellow-villagers in the Oxyrhynchite nome we discovered at the farmstead of Eulogius, son of Nidas, of the hamlet of Serenus, five nominated (?) men, Dionysius, Hor, Ammon, Soucheidas, Apol, and Sabbaeus, with their families; and their landlord Eulogius, together with Arion, a vine-dresser, and Serapion, a cultivator, did not allow us even to approach the door of the farmstead, repulsing us with violence. We also found three migrants in the Cynopolite nome, Gerontius, Pathas, and Heron, holding between them a hundred arurae and more of Crown land. 14 Therefore we, humble and solitary men, beseech your excellency to give order to the superintendent of public security to deliver up to us our fellow-villagers with their families, in order that we may be enabled by this measure of relief to remain in our village and may for ever feel grateful to your illustrious fortune.
