Title Assigning Water to Narmuda

Summary In this letter N��jid replies to a letter from ìAbd All��h b. Asìad about a water shortage in the town of Narmuda. N��jid b. Muslim writes that he has sent Juzayy and R��shid, two �ǣwater-managers�ǥ (s��hibay al-m����), and that he has ordered them to allow the inhabitants of Narmuda enough water for their personal use and for the irrigation of their fields. He adds that he has informed the administrator of another village that relied on the same source for its water supply, of his decision. Support/Dimensions 1 papyrus ; 20 x 23 cm
Condition Light brown papyrus with a dark discoloring in the left bottom corner. Written in black ink with a thin pen perpendicular to the fibers on Recto, parallel to the fibers on Recto. The ink is faded in some places. The original cutting lines have been preserved on all sides. There are some holes in the papyrus and one large part is broken off on the left side having resulted in the loss of two to three letters at the end of two lines.
