Introduction

Medical text. Papyrus fragment (3 x 7.5 cm) originally belonging to a roll and preserving on the recto the remains of 11 lines. The text is badly damaged and the right-hand margin survives only in the last two lines. The verso was probably reused as a medicinal label: it has the appearance of being entirely preserved and contains the name of a medicine, i.e. digestive salt, variously attested by medical authors. However, the first editor does not exclude the possibility that the text on the back introduced a remedy whose main component was digestive salt. Paleography suggests a datation to the 3rd c. AD.

(This papyrus has been digitally edited by Francesca Corazza as part of the Project "DIGMEDTEXT - Online Humanities Scholarship: A Digital Medical Library based on Ancient Texts" (ERC-AdG-2013, Grant Agreement no. 339828) funded by the European Research Council at the University of Parma (Principal Investigator: Prof. Isabella Andorlini). The digital edition is mostly based on the previous editions (ed.pr. = M. Gronewald, P.Köln VII 292))
