Introduction

Prescription for an eye-salve (P.Kell. 1.89). Papyrus scrap (9 x 11 cm) containing a list of ingredients and quantities. The substances are compatible with an eye-salve (cf. M.-H. Marganne, L'ophtalmologie dans l'Egypte gréco-romaine d'après les papyrus littéraires grecs , Leiden 1994; Ι. Andorlini, πολλὰ ἰατρῶν ἐστι συγγράμματα. Scritti sui papiri e la medicina antica , ed.
