up thus: <:εὐγενῆ=PN N. Litinas (from photo)|ed|<:συγγενῆ|reg|συγενῆ:>:>. The reading
<:χοιρίδια|reg|χυροίδια:>, however, is not tenable, as χυρίδια is certain. The tail
of rho is on the edge of the lacuna, partly obscured by a stray flake of papyrus.
The apparent dot of ink below the upsilon in χυρίδια may or may not be ink, but it
does not belong to the word χυρίδια. For the spelling, see P.Fay. 111, another Gemellus
text in Gemellus' own hand.

II 1a. I propose the reading εὐγενῆ: The upper horizontal of the first letter is slightly
curved and that points to an epsilon rather a sigma. The upper horizontal of the third
letter protrude to the left and this could be only tau. This produces the adjective
εὐγενής, which could refer to animals and mean “high-bred”; see LSJ s.v. εὐγενής 3.
(2) l. 4 <:χοιρίδια|reg|χυρίδια:> -> <:χοιρίδια|reg|χυροίδια:> The letter omicron
can be seen clearly between rho and iota. (3) l. 9 <:ποιήσῃς|reg|πυήσᾳς:> -<:ποιήσῃς|reg|πυήσῃς:>
The letter eta in the ending of the verbal form is clear; cf. the other etas in the
same hand.
