Title Libellus of the Decian Persecution
Author Aurelius Sakis (son of Maximus)
Summary Certificate, signed by two official witnesses, proving that Aurelius Sakis has participated to a sacrifice to the traditional gods, as ordered by an edict of the emperor Decius. This was considered as a proof of loyalty to the government, and the Christians who refused to do this were persecuted

κώμης Θεοξενίδος
5ἅμα τοῖς τέκνοις Ἀιῶνι
καὶ Ἡρᾷ καταμένοντες
ἐν κώμῃ Θεαδελφείᾳ.
ἀὶ(*) θύοντες τοῖς θεοῖς
διετελέσαμεν καὶ νῦν
10ἐπὶ παρόντων ὑμῶν
κατὰ τὰ προσταχθέντα
ἐθύσαμεν καὶ ἐσπείσαμεν
καὶ τῶν ἱερείων ἐγευσά-
μεθα καὶ ἀξιοῦμεν ὑμᾶς

We have always been constant in sacrificing to the gods, and now too, in your presence, in accordance with the regulations, we have sacrificed and poured libations and tasted the offerings, and we ask you to certify this for us below.
