Θέων Τυράννωι τῶι τιμιωτάτωι
πλεῖστα χαίρειν.
Ἡρακλείδης ὁ ἀποδιδούς σοι τὴν
ἐπιστολὴν ἐστίν μου ἀδελφός·
5διὸ παρακαλῶ σε μετὰ πάσης δυνά-
μεως ἔχειν αὐτὸν συνεσταμέ-
νον. ἠρώτησα δέ καὶ Ἑρμί[α]ν
τὸν ἀδελφὸν διὰ γραπτοῦ ἀνηγεῖ̣[σθαί]
\σοι περὶ/ τούτου. χαριεσαι(*) δέ μοι τὰ μέγιστα
10ἐάν σου τῆς ἐπισημασίας τύχηι.
πρὸ δὲ πάντων ὑγιάνειν(*) σε εὔχ[ο-]
μαι ἀβασκάντως τὰ ἄριστα
πράττων. ἔρρω(σο).

(Translation: from P.Oxy. 2) Theon to his esteemed Tyrannus, many greetings. Heraclides, the bearer of this letter, is my brother. I therefore entreat you with all my power to treat him as your protégé. I have also written to your brother Hermias asking him to communicate with you about him. You will confer upon me a very great favour if Heraclides gains your notice. Before all else you have my good wishes for unbroken health and prosperity. Good-bye. (Addressed ‘To Tyrannus, dioecetes.)
