HGV 20426 Translation (English) [xml]

(Translation: from P.Oxy. 4) The 19th year of the Emperor Caesar Trajanus Hadrianus Augustus, Tubi __, at Oxyrhynchus in the Thebaid. Apollonius son of Apollonius son of Diogenes, his mother being Tanechotarion also called Euterpe, daughter of Diogenes, of Oxyrhynchus, acknowledges to _____, of the said city (the contract taking place in the street), since he is unable through sickness to make the voyage to the assize of the nome, that he has forthwith appointed _____ to represent him in the inquiry to be held against him before his highness the praefect Petronius Mamertinus or the epistrategus Gellius Bassus or other judges, and to carry out everything concerned with the trial; for he gives his consent on these terms. The agreement is valid.
