Summary Three brothers, enrolled in Arsinoe in the district of the Holy Gate, state to the authorities concerned of Theadelphia that they have jointly inherited half a house from their father (it can���t be ascertained whether the other half was bequeathed to other heirs or whether that part had never belonged to their father) and have a courtyard. Nobody was living in this house at that time.

Support/Dimensions 1 papyrus ; 11.6 x 19.8 cm
Condition A light-brown papyrus, badly mutilated. The papyrus is neatly cut off at the top and partially at the right-hand side. At the top there is a margin left of 1.5 cm. at the left-hand side one of 2 cm. and at the bottom approx. 11 cm. At the right the lines continue up to the very edge and the words have been abbreviated because of the lack of space.

Hands The text, running parallel to the fibers, bespeaks a well-trained, though untidy, hand. The text was written down after the papyrus had been made narrower (where the text has been written the papyrus is only 9.5 cm. wide). Two vertical folds are still visible.

APIS Translation (English)

To Theon, straregus of the division of Themistes and Polemon of the Arsinoites and to Artemidoros, basilicogrammateus of the division of Themistes and to Heras, komogrammateus of Theadelphia from Apollo ( ) and Heron senior and Heron junior, all 3 sons of Apollo ( ) alias Socrates, enrolled in the district of the Holy Gate. We possess in the aforesaid village of Theadelphia one half of our paternal houses and of an atrium and of a courtyard, in which no-one is living and which we declare as untenanted for the tax-return of the past 9th year of Antoninus Caesar the Lord. That is why we submit it.
