APIS Translation (English)

"To Aurelius Apollonius, honorably discharged soldier, from Aurelius Cornelius, from the village of Philadelphia. I wish to lease from you, for only the present year 5 and year 4, two and one-half arouras of catoechic grain land situated near the village Tanis of the Herakleidou meris, in the topos named Stone, for a fixed rate for the two and one-half arouras of five artabas of wheat, total 5 art. wheat. All operations or construction of canals shall be the responsibility of me, the lessee; and the public dues or forced land assignments shall be the responsibility of you, the landlord. After the year I shall return the arouras in fallow condition. I have been asked the formal question and have so declared. I shall deliver the rent to you at the threshing floors by four-choinix measure.;(2nd hd.) I, Aurelius Apollonios, have leased as stated.;(1st hd.) Year 5 and year 4 of our lords Diocletian and Maximian, Augusti. Phaophi 13."
