Summary The text is a letter sent by someone whose name has been lost to his brother Isidoros at Philadelphia. Its content is purely personal, and like so many others it has the sole purpose of maintaining the closeness of a family relationship.

Support/Dimensions 1 papyrus ; 13 x 23.5 cm.
Condition This dark-brown papyrus is regularly cut at the top, the right and at the bottom. At the left there is a break which extends from the top to the bottom of the papyrus. A small part of it remains opposite lines 13-15. When the scribe completed his text, he folded the sheet vertically six times from right to left. After the address had been written, the scribe completed his task by folding the papyrus horizontally through the middle.

Hands Written in a quick and somewhat careless cursive with a rightward slant. Above the text is a margin of 1.8 cm. and below it a blank space of 7 cm. The address is written on the verso, parallel with the fibers, along one of the exposed panels.

". . .to Isidoros, his brother, greetings. As soon as I reached Antinoopolis, I received your letter, through which I get the feeling of seeing you. I therefore beseech you to do the same constantly, for in this way our love will be increased. Whenever I am slow to write to you, this happens easily because I find no one going your way. If you have need of anything, send me word since you know that I will do it without delay. If you write me a letter, send it to my friend Hermes at the house of Artemas so that he may deliver it to me. Hermes himself and his sister Tausiris greet you heartily.
