Condition This light-brown papyrus is regularly cut on all sides. Damages are limited to a tear along a central vertical fold and a few holes; in the top left corner the ink is somewhat abraded. (TC)

Recto/Verso Source of description: Recto
Hands Written in large, clearly inexperienced capitals which are barely connected. (TC) The similarity of the crude handwriting to that of P. Lond. I 18 verso of 161 B.C. suggests that the fifth regnal year in which this papyrus was written is that of Philometor, 176 B.C., or that of the joint reign of Philometor and Euergetes II, 165 B.C.

APIS Translation (English)

"Ptolemaios, a Macedonian of the company of Metrophanes of the Second Hipparchy, holder of seventy arouras, to Demetrios, an aide of the Second Hipparchy, holder of sixty arouras, greetings. I have received from you the rent (in kind) of the fourth year for (the kleros) which I leased to you in the presence of the registrars, together with what you measured out on my behalf to the royal treasury for the fourth year. Farewell. The 5th year, Pauni 23."
