APIS Translation (English)

"To Hierax, royal secretary and acting strategos. We, Pekysios, son of Theon and Sinpetsiris, alias Leontas, son of Panemgeus and Thermouthion, both from the village of Sephtha in the lower toparchy, having been nominated by the komogrammateus of the village for the reception private donkeys, swear by the Emperor Caesar Trajan Hadrian Augustus that we will receive the donkeys agreed on with the komogrammateus, . . . the public service, and will persist therein without intermission until we are released, or may we be subject to the condition of the oath. Year 14 (?) of the Emperor Caesar Trajan Hadrian Augustus, Mecheir 15. (2nd hd.) We, Pekysios, son of Theon, and Papontos alias Leontas, son of Panemgeus, have sworn the oath. I, Pekysios, wrote on behalf of Papontos because he is illiterate."
