- 2020-07-15T07:53:14-04:00 [mgerhardt]: General - The reading Ταψουραῦτ(ος) is confirmed by two unpublished ostraka from Elephantine
(O.Cairo without number to be published by Shereen Aly and P.Berol.inv. 12162). There
the alpha is clearly legible and certain.
- 2020-07-15T07:46:38-04:00 [mgerhardt]: General -
- 2020-07-14T05:49:07-04:00 [james.cowey]: Vote - AcceptText - I think that the reading is attractive. Psi instead of Chi is
good. The Tau was presumably written over the Rho because of the shape of the ostracon.
My only slight hesitation is caused by the replacement of the name Tachourt (apparently
its only existence) with the name Tapsouraus, for which I can find no instances and
find difficult to interpret. I suggest that another possibility (perhaps better) is
to read Ταψουροῦτ(ος). The omicron upsilon ligature would be like the one in the word
κυρίου in lin3. If we were to read Ταψουροῦτ(ος) we would have the name Τα - Πσουροῦς,
daughter of Psourous (the Syrian). Psourous is attested once.
- 2020-07-14T02:50:20-04:00 [mgerhardt]: Submit - New reading for the end of line 1, which also effects the lost beginning
of line 2.
