I would not bother with an underdot. Otherwise fine.

The logic is reasonable: the document's date should precede the date of the upcoming festival; on those grounds alone ιθ̣ is to be doubted. It is worth noting in this regard that the δ in ιδ (lin 12) is not absolutely clear. In lin29 the β in ιβ is quite sloppy and I am inclined to underdot it; you can see how it would match the other betas in the text (open at top, tail at bottom right) if it weren't so faltering. But it is certainly not, in my view, an alpha or gamma; and no other numbers will suit (and still preced 14). So, this ought to be right. FInalizer: lin3--> <:εὐ<τυ>χεῖν|BL:1.455|εὖ <ἔ>χειν:> and dbl check accents/breathings on origs throughout.
2011-09-07T15:47:39.768-04:00 [simoeis]: In this dated letter from Lucius Bellenus Gemellus to his son Sabinus, Gemellus asks for, among other things, food items to be sent for a festival of Harpocrates (for discussion of this festival, see F. Perpillou-Thomas, _Fêtes d'Egypte ptolémaïque et romaine d'après la documentation papyrologique grecque_ (Leuven 1993), 88-89). Gemellus states in line 12 that the festival will take place on the 14th, but in lines 28 to 29 of the ed. pr. we find that the papyrus is dated (ἔτους) ια Τραιανοῦ Καίσαρος το[ῦ κ]υρίου, [Τ]ῦβι, ιθ̣, which raises the following question: if the letter was written on the 19th of Tybi, how was it that the festival was planned for the 14th? Does he mean that it will be on the 14th of the following month, Mechir? If Mechir is indeed meant, the omission of any reference to it is odd. Perpillou-Thomas noticed this discrepancy (see BL X, 67) and suggested that the 11th or 12th of Tybi was probably the intended date of the letter. This suspicion is correct and can be confirmed by consulting a photograph of the original, which is made available by the University of Pennsylvania (accessible via HGV). Here we see that Gemellus in fact wrote the letter two days before the festival, on Tybi 12 (ιβ) (= January 8). (For parallel forms of the beta in ιβ, see [Τ]ῦβι in line 29 and Σαβίνωι in line 2). I have made the necessary change to the Duke text. The correct date is already in HGV. Only now the statement "Tag unsicher" should be removed.

You must know that Elouras the royal scribe is become deputy for the strategus Erasus, in accordance with a letter of his highness the praefect. If you think it well, send him an artaba of olives and some fish, as we want to make use of him. Send us for the house some...and olives, for they have no fresh olives at the house. Send the...since Erasus is going to celebrate the festival of Harpocrates so soon on the 14th, and send him the cabbages(?). Load all the animals with cabbage and we will send him five...of cabbage and as much to the house...What you write to me about not neglecting the building you have said more than enough, and you write too often "I am thanking the village," when they have charged you with four staters.
