Title receipt for poll tax

Summary This receipt records a payment of 8 drachmas for poll tax (laographia idioton) at Memphis. The tax is paid by a certain Mystes, son of Akousilaos and grandson of Horos.

Condition This light to medium brown papyrus is regularly cut off at the left and at the top. At the right and at the bottom, the papyrus appears to have been torn off. Completely preserved with only minor and insignificant abrasions.

APIS Translation (English)

"Fourth year of Antoninus Caesar, our lord, Epeiph 28. Mystes, son of Akousilaos and grandson of Horos, has paid to Artem( ), collector of money taxes at Memphis, for the poll tax incumbent on unskilled workers (?) in the same year, eight drachmas including the extra charge, i. e 8 dr."
