L. Weisser-Gericke (from photo) (via PN) : [ἄρ]|[ξ]αντος prev. ed.
- 2024-03-10T09:10:14-04:00 [james.cowey]: Finalized - Ready.
- 2024-03-10T08:07:48-04:00 [ngonis]: Vote - Accept-Straight-to-Finalization - προ̣αρχ̣[ιερατεύ]-[σ]αντος looks good. But
'vestig.ca.7char' is too generous an estimate; change to ca.5 (or 5-6).
- 2024-03-08T11:04:57-05:00 [lgericke98]: Submit - K.A. Worp already noted (BL 11.220) that [ἄρ]|[ξ]αντος is very unlikely and
that a specific magistracy should be restored. In l. 1, above Ἡρακ, I read προ̣αρχ̣,
which can be restored as προ̣αρχ̣[ιερατεύ-][σ]αντος. Cf.
π̣ροα̣ρχιερ̣[α]τ̣εύσαντος Ἡ̣ρακλ̣έ̣ο̣υ̣ς π̣ό̣λεω̣ς (all from Heracleopolis and from
the same period as this text). After προ̣αρχ̣, it seems that there is indeed space
for seven more letters in this line. Whether supplying [γεγυμνασιαρχη]|[κ]ότος καὶ
is compatible with the traces visible before προ̣αρχ̣ I am not sure. Reading the first
two letters preserved in l. 1 as οτ does not seem impossible to me.
