- 2019-05-26T08:05:44-04:00 [james.cowey]: Finalized - Ready.
- 2019-05-21T04:46:00-04:00 [ngonis]: Vote - Accept-Straight-to-Finalization - Fine, but it should be Ὀρβάιτος, not Ὀρβάιδος;
perhaps also add '(from image)' or the like.
- 2019-05-15T09:54:15-04:00 [RuthDuttenh%C3%B6fer]: Submit - l. 3: new reading and commentary
- 2017-12-05T06:02:27-05:00 [james.cowey]: Finalized - Ready.
- 2017-12-05T05:00:46-05:00 [james.cowey]: Vote - AcceptText - See comments by Ast. I agree that we should accept the change
so that all examples of Orbais carry a smooth breathing. I think that we should not
use the PN tag as there is no clear argumentation as to why it should carry the smooth
breathing.
- 2017-12-04T23:47:14-05:00 [simoeis]: Vote - AcceptText - TM gives Orbais and not Horbais for this name, but says nothing
about its origin. I've asked Willy Clarysse for his thoughts on the matter and here
is what he says: "No clear answer from this side I am afraid. I feel pretty certain
the name is Egyptian (cf. Lobais and Sebais), but the etymology escapes us when we
have no bilingual case. In my view OR- is unlikely to be a Horos name, more probably
it renders Egyptian WR (cf. Porthotes = p3-wr-DHwty), but without article. One would
expect somewhere a variant Porbais, with the article, but this is not attested. There
is a name (one single reference) Har-p-bais, but I do not think this has anything
to do with Orbais." I would be inclined to admit Resel's emendation in order to make
the name consistent with TM, which seems to have been the motivation behind making
the change in the first place. I am not sure, however, whether we want to use the
PN tag. Next voter?
