- 2020-10-04T12:10:41-04:00 [james.cowey]: Finalized - Ready.
- 2020-10-03T19:15:17-04:00 [ngonis]: Vote - AcceptText - It cannot be (ταλάντου), with the number 1600 following. These
are drachmas. I vote now so that the PN correction is entered.
- 2020-09-27T08:52:05-04:00 [james.cowey]: Vote - AcceptText - In lin35 after the chi with a raised abbreviation sign for alpha
above it (χα(λκοῦ)) there is indeed a clear sign between χα(λκοῦ) and Αχ. I do not
think it can be a sign for talanton which is usually made quite differently and is
indeed of quite a different form in lin33 of this self same text. In lin35 I think
the sign should be transcribed as (δραχμαὶ). From the related text in P.Tebt. 1 47
line 37 one can see a good comparison. Admittedly the sign here in P.Tebt. 1 46.35
lacks the trailing downward trace of the compared sign in P.Tebt. 1 47.37. At a close
examination one might just make out a little downward tick.
- 2020-09-22T23:39:25-04:00 [leahpackgrams]: Submit - added ταλάντου symbol to the last line, not in ed.princ.
- 2012-06-16T09:23:39.193-04:00 [joshuad.sosin]: Finalized - ready
- 2012-06-16T09:23:39.187-04:00 [pheilpor]: Vote - AcceptText - Accept. Χά(λκου) (τάλαντον) looks clear to me. Finalizer, please
clean up the reg in lines 25-26.
- 2012-06-16T09:23:39.179-04:00 [joshuad.sosin]: Vote - AcceptText - I think this is a pretty clear emendation. The ink is somewhat
smudgy, but the χ with α above it is reasonably clear, and looks well enough like
the same pair two lines below (35). And looking just to the right of χα(λκοῦ) in lin35,
I think I see quite clearly an L-shaped symbol, which I'd expect to be for drachmas,
though it looks rather like the top half the the symbol. Cf. e.g. P.Tebt. 1.47.37

http://digitalassets.lib.berkeley.edu/apis/ucb/images/AP00775aA.jpg . I don't feel
strongly that this needs to go out to Sr Eds. What do others think?
- 2011-03-02T14:28:51.24-05:00 [tmh]: Corrected an omission in l. 33 noted while reading original. Image here: http://digitalassets.lib.berkeley.edu/apis/ucb/images/AP00801aA.jpg
- 2011-03-02 [gabrielbodard]: batch converted all tei:sic to tei:orig and tei:corr to tei:reg
- 2010-05-05 [gabrielbodard]: changed schema; added xml:space=preserve; indented; moved title/@n to idno
- 2009-11-12 [gabrielbodard]: Added language la-Grek
- 2009-06-27 [gabrielbodard]: Converted from TEI P4 (EpiDoc DTD v. 6) to P5 (EpiDoc RNG schema)

APIS Translation (English)
To Menches, komogrammateus of Kerkeosiris, from Harmiysis son of Sarapion, cultivator
of Crown land and inhabitant of the same village. On the 8th of Mesore of the 4th
year my house was invaded by Pyrrhichos son of Dionysios, one of the katoikoi hippeis,
and Herakleios son of Poseidippos, inhabitant of the said village, with many others
armed with swords. They effected a forcible entrance and after bursting open the lock
of my mother's apartment carried off the articles mentioned below, though there was
no dispute whatever between me and them. I therefore present this complaint to you
in order that you may subscribe to my statements and further forward a copy of this
petition to the proper officials, so that I may recover my property and the accused
may receive the punishment which they deserve. Farewell. A woman's robe worth 1 talent
4000 drachmas; A woman's sleeved tunic worth 4000 drachmas; A jar containing 1600
drachmas of copper.
