† ἐπειδὴ ὁ πλινθευτὴς λέγει τὸν τόπον τοῦ υἱ(*)οῦ Ν̣ιννο̣ῦ̣δ̣ος ὀστρακωδης(*)
καὶ μὴ πεποιημένον εἰς πλινθεῦσαι(*), ὡς δὲ λέγει ὅτι ἐὰν σ̣[κ]υ̣λῇ̣ πρὸς τὸν υἱ(*)ὸν
τοῦ οἰκονόμου τοῦ ἁγίου Ἰ(*)ούστου παρέχει σοι τόπον ὀλίγον ἢ ἀντὶς τοῦ μαρτυρίου
5ἢ ἐξ ἀρ[ι]στερῶν αὐτοῦ ἤγουν ἐκ δεξιῶν, καταξίωσον χαρίσασθαί μοι σκ[υ]λμὸν
πρὸς αὐτὸν ἀλλʼ’ ἄρτι καὶ εἰπεῖν αὐτῷ. εἰκὸς παρέχει σοι τὴν χάριν, ἐκ τοῦ γὰρ
ἐγ̣’γ̣ύ̣ς ἐστιν. ἀλλʼ’ οὕτως λέγεις αὐτῷ ὅτι ἐὰν θέλεις(*) παρέχομέν σοι τὸ ἐνοίκιον,
μόνον̣ π̣ά̣ρε̣χ̣έ μοι. τὸν δὲ θεόν σου εὐθὺς(*) διὰ Φοιβάμμωνος δήλωσόν μοι

(Translation: from P.Oxy. 6) Since the brickmaker says that the place of the son of Ninnous (?) is full of sherds and not adapted for brickmaking, and as he says that if you will trouble to go to the son of the steward of the monastery of St. Justus he will provide you with a small space, either opposite the martyr’s shrine, or on the left of it, or on the right, vouchsafe me the favour of going to him and speaking to him now. It is likely that he will grant you this favour, for it is close by. Say to him this: “If you wish, we will pay you rent, only grant me the favour and God be with you(?)” Inform me immediately by Phoebammon of his answer.
