APIS Translation (English)

[To . . . Sempronius] Eutyches, steward of Marcus [Sempronius . . .], centurion, [from - - -] Clemens and Gaius [- - -], both discharged from military service. [We want] on mutual security [to lease the olive produce] growing [and maturing in the] present eighth year [of Imperator Caesar] Domitianus Augustus Germanicus [in the] olive groves belonging to Sempronius [. . . in the neighbourhood of] Psenarpsenesis [in the . . . locality of . . .] arourai in four parcels, [at a rental rate for the whole of . . .] eight [metretai] of strained, new, pure olive [oil] and an extra amount of two [kotylai for each metretes] with the oil measure and ten artabai of [choice] black [olives] with the [six-choinix measure] of Karanis completely guaranteed [and subject to no deduction]. We shall effect the harvest [by baskets and reeds] and shall complete it [by the month . . . and] we shall pay [the rent, both in olive oil] and in olives, in the month [. . .]. If by any chance [- - - the offer to rent] will be cancelled by us.;(2nd hand) I, [. . .] Sempronius Eutyches, have leased [for a rent of . . . eight] metretai of pure [olive oil and] an extra amount of [two kotylai for each] metretes and [ten] artabai of choice black [olives.
